Artifact bombs are so rare, but with good reason. I think I've only seen one in my entire time playing.

There is a mass driver just south of the artlab for the sole purpose of disposing of people bomb artifacts, noisemakers, radius-harm artifacts. Of course now grog is nasty to any sane person who drinks it.
