Augmentation is cool and good but I want to suggest moving it out of Robotics somewhat. It's already quite a busy department what with looking after the borgs, people requesting that they or a buddy they dragged along is borged, swiping bodies from the cloner, eye surgery, limb replacement, people requesting robot hearts, building little robots for tasks that come up or dealing with staff assistants that decide to break in. I propose three potential solutions:
- Make augmentation it's own job. It can live next door to robotics. Not the best idea as it's a little over-specialised as the game stands.
- Spread the workload throughout medbay. Robotics can still be in charge of creating borg limbs and has exclusive access to the machine translation implant, but all the stuff exclusively meant for people (cybereyes, cyberheart, other cyberorgans and implants) can live in the medical fabricator for normal doctors to make and add to people on request.
- The AUG-4-U auto-surgery booth. It lives in the medbay lobby, you pay your money (augmentations vary in price, health monitor implant would be the cheapest at around $100), step inside and the machine performs the procedure. You could put a lot of the basic augmentations in here and have more technical or risky augs (such as the cyberheart) require an actual doctor. It also gives you something to spend your money on.
