The Batphone.
I'm still not entirely too sure how this would be coded, but it should work like a two way comms device with another red telephone situated somewhere on the station.

The idea is that if someone picks up the telephone, the other telephone would ring. The person can pick up the handset and talk to the other person, whoever that person may be. The handset then is to be placed down on the phone, lest if you walk away the handset be yanked out of the base, similar to IV bags!
Could be scannable. Lord knows mechanics need more fun things to scan.
