Is it possible to have internal bleeding be an actual thing?

Like, if something or someone hits you hard enough you start vomiting blood until somebody puts you on a surgery table, opens your chest with a scalpel, and then uses a suture ?

Of course, this should only happen if you get caught in a powerful blast or someone bashes your BRAINS in with a blunt object of sorts.

I think internal bleeding would be a great thing... when surgery finally gets that big dumb overhaul we've all been dreaming of.

Or at least I have.
