Would it be like an actual zombie, reanimation, speech inability, etc? Or would it be zombie in the sense that it's a mindless slave?

Probably something in between. A dead body brought back with black magic, so it can't be killed by just shooting or beating it, and it can walk and talk like normal (though maybe the vodoo chaplain could sew his mouth shut?). No eating brains and making more zombie nonsense though.
