Why not make ID access remote? As in the HoP can remotely change the ID of someone on the computer? Maybe incur a fee for doing so?
That's actually a planned feature for ongoing computer network stuff, having more things like personnel records, security statuses, and ID accesses stored in the mainframe instead of in magic nothingness land. More like one master personnel file entry with the other stuff all encompassed in it under varying (hackable) access levels, instead of a bunch of things scattered all over the place over unique computers. Ideally the unique workstation computers would have the normal/better interface, but since the actual information would be stored in the mainframe, DWAINE nerds could mess with it from any computer on the station with some effort.
Could also just have a snippable wire in the door so the door can't check against the personnel file, and would just assume whatever is on the ID is correct - but if the server can be reached and says a certain chemist's access to chemistry has been revoked, it'll deny them access. Until that wire is snipped.
Part of that goal is also to have all ID interactions at doors go into a log with timestamps, the way actual access-management RFID programs work. Just a running log of who swiped into which room when. Could be useful for detectives and anyone trying to get a rough idea of where a target might have last been.
Real cool. Sounds like adding more DWAINE idea is coming to fruition. You could add all sorts of stuff to this, such as personnel record could encompass credit accounts, and have ai have a more fleshed out mainframe too, potentially hacking into it, someone could deactivate camera's too.
