What if instead of a tiny little virtual chemistry room you can faff about in, it's instead more like the bomb testing machine? Load up a beaker of your horrendous hellmix into the machine, slap on a pair of goggles, then press a button to decide if you want to try it with foam or smoke. Some virtual clowns would probably be necessary as well so you can see their effects on mobs and whatnot.

This way the russian satellite maintains its position as a secluded area for experimentation, and it gives people a place to test out various combinations of chemicals to see what's best for killing and/or healing people, and the best method of disersing it.
