Reason for application:
My reason for application isn't exactly complicated, I just notice that the drip for Head of Security and NTSO is really good.
The actual reason, however, is a little more.. reasonable than just the drip. There are some rounds where security needs somebody to lead them, you know the type.
Chaos is spread throughout the station, and antags are running rampant, with officers who don't know how to sentence them or whether something is too harsh.
I would like to be the beacon that tells them the best course of action, and allows for Officers to blossom whilst hopefully being able to take a backseat throughout the round.
My entire reason for applying is to nurture SecOffs and SecAsses, and play a more management version of HoS who makes sure everything is running well whilst not getting involved in action if not necessary.

Security experience (300 word minimum): Rather than giving a entire essay on my security experience, I'll be breaking it up into more manageable chunks for readability.

Command - My experience with security, and more importantly, commanding security, has been nothing short of a journey. I used to be the type of security officer who would confirm everything with other security officers beforehand, and whilst I do still communicate brig sentencing and arrests, I'm much more confident in my ability to lead a team. I've had shifts where I've had to dole out commands, delegate and keep stuff flowing as best as I can. This is a huge part of security for me, as I believe that a HoS who lacks confidence in their decisions won't be able to do their job correctly.

Communication - Another extremely important part of Security. This involves communicating arrests, brig times, the reason that you're bringing people in, who has who, I believe that without good communication, a security team simply falls apart. This can lead to scenarios like a known syndicate getting off with a simple brig and no search, to more major cases like a changeling who has absorbed multiple crew-members getting off scot-free due to nobody communicating that they're a danger to the crew. In the beginning of my security career, I was a lot worse with communication, but it's gotten to the point where before I engage in combat or attempt an arrest, I radio to my team and tell them what's happening and where.

Escalation - This is a part of security that I can't stress enough. Escalation is very important to both keep a round flowing organically and ensure the enjoyment of ALL sides. Security isn't there to win because they found an antagonist early, they're there to facilitate a fun round for everyone. There have been a few times where I've found that playing dumb early-round can lead to more fun interactions. Of course, this can only go so far. I'm not saying that something like a traitor shooting people with a hunting rifle should be ignored just because it's early on into the round, but I believe that something such as a traitor hiding contraband shouldn't have you sniffing it out like a hound-dog early-round.

Attitude - Something that I cannot stress enough is that you need to have a good attitude to play security. This is something that I've had to learn personally, as I've received bans in the past for poor behavior whilst playing security. Self-regulation is a skill that I promote in security officers, to the point where if a player seems distressed at all, it's much healthier for the game and the player to encourage them to go to cryogenics. This is something that I practice myself, after a real stressful round, I'll kick back and play a less taxing role or simply not play in the next round to avoid ruining the experience of anybody else, or myself.

Answer two or more of the following:
  • What advice would you give to other sec players?

Know when to take breaks. A lot of people say communication is important, and I believe in that whole-heartedly, but knowing how to manage yourself and your emotions also comes in handy. Always try to keep absolute neutrality in most situations, and if you feel yourself losing control of your emotions, there's cryogenics for a reason! Nobody will blame you, judge you, nor think less of you. If anything, you'll be looked upon favorably for knowing how to gauge YOUR own emotions. That's my advice for OOC. My IC advice would be, try to keep logs of whatever happens in round. Security notes come in REAL handy, as well as people of interest and SecHUD flags, as well as remember to share whatever information you have with the team. One of my biggest inspirations does this by giving his team the manifest at the beginning of the round. David Cain, love that guy.
  • Describe any differences in your playstyle when part of a full security team and when being the only security officer.
Generally, if I'm the only security officer, I'll play much more defensively, and know not to spread myself too thin. I'll frequently ask for help as needed from the AI/Captain if there's one, and do my best to stay alive. Whilst in a team, however, self-preservation is still important due to the importance of the security gear, but I focus myself more on making sure everyone has something to do, and asking for help as needed, as well as making sure nobody is out the loop. I also tend to communicate any of my arrests, and give more information about them when asked.
Answer one or more of the following fun questions (because it's important for the HoS to be fun):
  • Write a poem to convey your thoughts on security/NanoTrasen/space/bees/anything related to SS13.

    Scorching hot embers envelop everything
    Screaming staff-assistants litter the halls
Bodies abound, stood upon by a crimson villain
The Announcement Computer chimes 'Emergency Shuttle called'

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will): 5 bans, all from Jul-Oct 2022! One for misusing LOOC to salt, one for repeated rule 4 breaks, one for Grief, and two for poor escalation as an antag. However, since those bans, I'm happy to say that it's been three years since I've even RECEIVED a negative bwoink, something that I see as a sign of improvement! (These bans have also been confirmed through moderation!)
