To clarify, this project is leaning towards being a player controlled antagonist. With this in mind, it's likely that the source of the boss monster would still be artifact in nature, but the way it spawns would be radically different in order to make sure it couldn't be abused.

I'd like to kind of probe the community for ideas on what the boss monster's objectives should be.
Like, obviously, one of them is "Destroy all organic life," as the Ancient Race is pretty antithetical to human existence. but I'd like to hear from y'all about potentially other ways to hinder the station!
