Dear Friend, I must tell you that I was most shocked and perplexed when I two weeks ago received a letter from my old nan – as I am sure you know she passed away two years ago.
I apologize for not meeting with you as agreed; I was compelled – the strangeness of the letter aside – to agree to see my old kin, if for no other reason than to put my troubled mind at ease.
Will you not let me make up for the sudden cancellation of plans by inviting you over this evening for some tea and nan’s home-made biscuits that you enjoyed so much?
