I feel like barriers are in a good place as is, they take up 1 hand so that limits most of security's suppressive ranged options, leaving them with a taser or wave gun only if they plan to duel wield barrier and gun, and generally you won't have enough time to take out both your baton and barrier if your in a rush. Keeping that in mind it's like the waveguns and tasers secondary tool, allowing you to take a MASSIVE 9 damage less and being alot harder to take down in general. But as I've stated earlier, most guns that pair with it takes 2 hands, making you have to be really skilled at aiming to use the taser/wave. I downplay the baton pairing with it because the barrier feels more like it's meant to be for ranged blocking then close blocking. That's my opinion however because it has good close blocking aswell (disarm deflect and the aforementioned 9 damage reduction without active blocking).
TLDR: I feel like the barrier is in a good place because it can't pair with security suppressive guns and relies on the accuracy and skill of the officer who pairs with it, allowing you to become more of a defensive bodyguard like officer.
