Seeking advice for an assholish player (me)
#2
I had a slightly similar problem with getting salty, and the thing that I did which helped fix it was making sure to play real silly characters who I like to get involved in a situation with absolutely no expectation to survive. Playing a staffie or clown or sec assistant who walks up to the guy in syndicate armour or a wizard and calls them a nerd and then trying to backpedal when they start attacking you with "I DIDN'T MEAN IT", really playing into dying or the expectation of achieving nothing helps.

Eventually this bled into how I felt about losing even when I was trying to stop somebody with my full effort, and generally started taking things less personally. If I fuck up and drop my baton and see a vampire pick it up, I start laughing and sometimes rush to yell "WAIT WAIT WAIT" before I get hit with it. SS13 is a slapstick comedy a lot of the time, leaning into it and trying to make situations that I normally feel helpless in, as funny as I can instead, gives me back a sense of control, even as I'm getting gibbed. It reminds me that this is what I willingly signed up for in the game.

It's not a perfect solution, and like I said it helped me in a similar, but not identical issue. But it might give you the same sense of control that it gave me.
