i prefer engis still get to keep the interdictor locked, just give them the ability to unlock/lock by tapping their ID against it. traitors could just waltz in, nab the active interdictors and toss them into disposals if engis had to ask the HoP to lock their interdictors (which honestly sounds like a lot)

Traitors can already waltz in and throw the contents of other departments into disposals, I don't see what makes engineering so special that requires them to have unbreakable toys.
plus if the interdictor is removed a new one can be put into place
