Given Goon's strict rules on slurs and other vocabulary, why not just do something like this vs. banning people who aren't aware of the rules?

People who don't bother reading the language rules generally don't bother reading the other rules either. I'm not going to build railing in order to make it easier for them to disrespect our space by not even bothering to read the guidelines for being here.

At the risk of peanut-gallerying I think the guy in the thread was pretty apologetic about it and in my opinion it seemed like a very harsh ban.

A 24-hour temp ban for having to be warned not to use slurs for the third time is not harsh.
