I'm on board with this premise, as long as the polished floors themselves aren't an eyesore with sparkles and stuff. I wouldn't really know how to distinguish a polished floor besides the flavortext you mentioned. making it reflective maybe? I'm not sure how much of a nightmare that'd be to implement.

with all of this said I enjoy my downtime as a janitor quite a bit, on RP at least. so I do like this idea being totally optional for if you're super bored.

Good point, even if it's just for fun you'd probably want some visible way of telling that you didn't miss a spot.

Maybe the tiles would become.. slightly brighter? Not enough to be blinding, but enough to tell if the tile next to it would be a different color. Or, if it'd be easier, apply basically a very faint yellow tint to the tiles like paint.
