I like the idea of beating everyone shitless with mixed martial arts. But it would need balanced, such as having to wear a gi so that folks know you are a one-hit murder machine monk. (+ lots of telecrystals)

We could have a few "Martial Arts Training" options for traitors. Adds a few special moves (like macho man, but not nearly as OP) that one can use in melee as well as giving you a chance to block. Perhaps this training could be acquired by ordinary crew as well, but at great cost and time.

This would obviously cost lots of telecrystals, but no one-hit kills.

That said, a Karate Clown flipping Security goons over his head while kicking them in the face repeatedly would be fucking hilarious.

The highest-end and ridiculously OP stuff should require some kind of special clothing, but the entire point of martial arts in an ingame context would be the ability to disable and cause harm without running around with an energy sword. Making the abilities more obvious than said energy sword would defeat the purpose of the addition unless they were more powerful than that sword as well. The latter would probably be unbalanced because of the lack of the ability to disarm.
