The point of the shambler is to became a massive horror and be able to combat crowds of mere humans. Most of the time the screech just makes people be forced to run around randomly while they laser you to death. The very point is that once a ling goes shambler he's destroyed his ability to stealth and needs to be able to devestate crowds of people.
In practice, i've found the scream kind of worthless compared to your stealth abilities, as half the time they're unaffected, 40% they run around randomly while still shooting you, and 10% they actually get knocked down. If even one person is up, since somehow people can push the enormous horror of legs and flesh around even if it weighs likely three times as much they can ruin your entire ability to kill people and take their DNA.
I'd suggest actually adjusting the %'s up a bit for a more likely stun. And giving the abom the mag boot effect for the love of god. If I can't push a fat guy out of the way i shouldn't be able to be able to push an enormous hulking genetic horror that can litterally send me flying in one punch and is nigh unstunnable.
