being in darkness should give you minor hallucinations that are hard to see or hear clearly and are intended to unsettle your nerves a bit - slow, drawn out rumbles or very faint movement or a shadow that just barely looks faintly humanoid and is a tiiiiiny bit darker than the surrounding darkness.
