It is the latter, yes. By the time you would get it, it would make radweed splicing possible. FYI if it was additive 30% it would make some steps easier than with current LUCA design. All I want is one extra strategy for botanists to use, and I am trying to balance it so that it does not overshadow the traditional methods in any way. 

I have few ideas for how to make getting the splice module harder without just increasing it cost, and the one I like the most is to have a small quest before you can talk to the merchant gnome, much like with the Flock Mind merchant who also sells some very overpowered stuff. There are two kinds of quests: Deliver Jumbo Sized (the absolute maximum quality of a crop) of a random produce to David, OR bring him a random bartender drink. The former is obviously the most difficult and the most time consuming, while the latter is going to add around 4 minutes. I am kind of leaning towards the Jumbo-quest... What do you think?
