Now, if you somehow stuffed it down their throat or removed their lungs, attached the instrument, and then replaced the lung....

Yeah would probably be awkward to sprite too. Yes, I think a throat/ vocal cords organ or lungs would be perfect. Also gives a non genetic way for removing peoples voices. Imagine a silent mindslaves with no vocal cords. Even if they are implanted they can't blabber so quickly.
