I thought about this while out at a bar last night and we have the AI drones that float around and AI borgs and you can even put an AI brain into a human for some reason according the wiki and I thought "That's all well and good, buuuuuuut... what if the AI itself could break free and run away if it found itself in danger? Like the Mangler?" (note: if you haven't seen that flick, an industrial laundry press uproots itself in a factory and chases the main characters while trying to eat them, if it sounds stupid it was written by Stephen King so that's really all you need to know)
* As a protagonist the AI could run away from danger and hide elsewhere on the station, but now would be unguarded by it's normal turret set up.
* As an antagonist the AI could hide somewhere on the station and start it's genocidal rampage... as long as it isn't caught leaving.
This also means that the AI can do things like ride the shuttle without having to be carried there and other fun shit. Something to think about.
