I just got this idea while building vending machines as a mechanic. Sort of a companion to the Agent Card that makes sense for mechanics to have.
The card skimmer can be attached to any device that takes an ID card. It passively scans any ID card that is inserted into the machine, storing the details of the most recently scanned card. Once a card has been scanned, the mechanic can remove the skimmer with a screwdriver and swipe an Agent Card through it, cloning the access without having to physically steal the card from the victim.
The idea is that the mechanic puts it on, say, the cigarette machine in the bar, then hangs around waiting for someone with access they want to buy a pack of Pro Puffs. The mechanic then retrieves the skimmer and makes their own ID.
The skimmer can be detected by shaking the vending machine, which may cause it to fall out of the card slot.
