I also disagree. While I think it's bad form to outright poison say, a normal hamburger, adding poison to things like Mystery Meatballs will never not be funny.
Brain burgers are also very fair, in my mind. If you don't know what you are getting into when you eat it, you will soon find out.
I also find that people eat food anyway, despite the risk. I have killed several of the daring with syndicate sauce in my time.
As for drinks, while it's rude (and dumb) to serve a spread of clf3 and blackpowder in every glass, every round, the problem solves itself because people will remember that nerd. They also usually won't eat or drink from some random name loser when he realizes the previously mentioned pattern. You know who you are!
The only rule for this type of thing is don't serve things that will cause AOE damage, or damage the station in any way.

floorpills rule is the bomb diggity
it totally allows you to be evil and traitorous as a non traitor though, other people just gotta fall for your tricks
protip nerdos: some pda carts have reagent scanners built into them if you haven't got netdiag yet!

I vote strongly disagree. This is not broken, do not fix it, do not create more reasons for unnecessary admin intervention. Amputating parts of the player culture because 'wow gosh dying sucks' when there are far less entertaining and far more permitted traitor ways to kill people is dumb.
Also, I hold the time I made a huge banquet of deadly food and made a challenge out of it very close to my heart

Adding in REASONS to eat food/drink, then this whole situation of the whole civilian angle being rude will resolve itself naturally, because people will want to eat/drink and will be appopriately annoyed when their food/drink isn't up to par.
tl;dr: Civ jobs are shit because of lack of worth. When the only thing you get out of your job is poisoning your food, then you're going to poison your fucking food.

People dont use food for it's healing effects because by the time you need it you've already passed the injury threshold that makes it useless (survivalist is actually pretty useful). It doesn't get eaten for fun because it's boring. Effects better than "Gives you a horrible disease that kills you!" etc might make people interested. The food and drinks page on the wiki being out of date and missing information probably doesn't help.
Then again I've left cryoxadone ice creams on the bar counter all round and not even dying players stopped to eat them. The lollipops in medbay also go completely ignored despite bringing me to full health from crit on several occasions.
Theres also the situation with medical supplies and donk pockets being literally everywhere on cog2 making food healing less relevant.

although i agree that it is sad to see so many foods and drinks left uneaten and undrunk by a wary crew because you can never know if they will slay you
rescinding the exemption will necessitate either the nerfing or the removal of numerous "gray area" foods and drinks that are risky/bad for your health (alcohol poisoning, cholesterol, porktonium, sugar coma, port teleportitis landing the drinker outside in space, rainbow melons exploding your limbs off and depressurizing the room, etc) because otherwise these items will be reduced to not-very-useful traitor-only toys(largely inferior to even simple non-secret chemistry killchems), perhaps occasionally made by someone who doesnt care if they get jobbanned/banned because someone ate something they cooked

One thing about both cholesterol and porktonium is that eating these things in small quantities has very little impact on people. They're poisons only in high concentrations, and if you're eating that much bacon you should probably anticipate consequences. I think the sugar coma limit could be made a bit higher, though.

It's impossible to have a chef/barman traitor round based around making food/drinks because food and drink is completely worthless and always poisoned anyways because of the floorpills exception. Sure it heals you but so do the mountains of medkits in public areas, the donk pockets strewn around the station, and the public minimed, and none of those have that dumb threshold where they stop healing. Food at the bar needs to either be actually useful for something or not almost guaranteed to kill you.
I guess what I'm getting at is permanently enable motives and manual breathing/blinking.

Motives on #2, if at the same level as on #1, would have almost no noticeable effect. The loss of the right side of the screen, though, would probably be felt. If this were introduced I feel that having the motives displayed in the Status tab on the right would be (or at least an option to display them there) would be preferable for most.

Thirst would have to be tweaked thought, A pure ethanol pill is quite lethal

True enough. I tend to carry around a glass of water/bottle of water pills (what is logic?) on #1 for when I inevitably forget to drop by and get a drink and am busy out in the debris field or wherever.
Saline-glucose should probably reduce your thirst - which is more a measure of dehydration, right? - which would give you another reason to let the little medibots stab you.

My opinion on murderfood:
100% OK: leaving a burger laced with horrible chemicals in a hallway and labeling it "FUN DEATH"
OK but shit:Leaving a burger laced with horrible chemicals in the bar and labeling it "Mystery meat"
Line toeing shit: Leaving a unlabeled burger laced with chems that cause you to gib in the bar for new players to eat and die
Antag only shit: Making a blackpowder/clf3/nitro pill in a hall and waiting for a idiot to eat it.
Same opinion on drinks/pills.

I think what should be the metric on whether or not something crosses the line is something if the barman practiced any kind of effort along with deceit to get you to consume something, they should be held accountable to a degree
- Picking up something and drinking it without the barman saying a word = OK
- The barman asks you to taste something that the safety of is left unquestioned = A gray area
- The barman asks you to taste something that they lead you to believe is safe = Bad
- You ask the barman for drink and they give you something lethal = Bad
It's that second one that deserves the most scrutiny. If a chef made a ton of poison burgers and announced that food was ready, I think they'd be running pretty close to the line of being shitty. While it would be up to you to ask them about how safe the burgers are and they should be upfront about them being lethal, the call to action to get people to eat the food carries with it a small sense of trust that it shouldn't be lethal.

Changing the floorpills rule really requires overhauling a lot more of the game's chem than you'd think, too-because the game is built from the ground up on the assumption of it, food and drink wise.
A startling number of "safe" foods-default, unadulterated meals-have small chances to kill your ass under unusual circumstances-or just consistently kill your ass. Why do you think I make bacon cakes?
Putting too much hot sauce on food can be shockingly debilitating for a long time. Every single Discount Dan has some horrible or potentially debilitating or nauseating chem in it. It's a pain in the ass on top of the question of "is this worth it". Also, straight up alcohol and nicotine are pretty dangerous at points, which is thematically appropriate...
Personally, I think it fits SS13, the game where the alcohol dispenser says that it is not for human consumption(examine it!) and everything is of apparent high but actually horrifyingly low quality, that all the food/drinks are iffy.
I say, encourage people to at least give oblique warnings over the radio, like I do, about their food. Tell 'em that your food is "alcohol/nicotine/radium battered" fried food, or that your drinks are designed to be the hobo wine experience(my line, do not steal). That way, at least it's a reading comprehension challenge instead of a thematics interpretation challenge.
Honestly, I get more customers doing this.
