So in watching cheesy horror movies I got an idea: PARASITIC KUDZU. What it does is roots itself into the body of humans that have brute wounds on them. It then feasts on the blood in their nutrients, slowly causing damage. The main thing it does is causes hallucinations and general crazy psychological affects, with messages like "You feel something slide across your skull but nothing's there!". This would make kudzu a more interesting and dangerous foe rather than just blocking shit. If it seems to bad then it could be some kind of botany mutation.
Might be kind of neat to have people get stuck in kudzu and then slowly get parasited to death.
Also kudzu graveyards where poor crewmen got ate by plants would happen.
Also could make for some good veggie puns whenever someone grabs a chainsaw or flamethrower.
e.g "Lets make some salad!", "Lets smoke some grass", "It's harvest season", etc.
The absorbtion rate should be slow enough that kudzu isn't a death wish, otherwise parasite kudzu would have to be ultra rare, like a traitor item or something you'd find in a strange seed inside of a surplus crate.
Maybe it could even work like grass where you just plant it somewhere on the floor.
