I keep thinking how some shifts can be high in numbers on something like RP but some people don't get to do anything, you have 9 staffies all looking for something to do.... Engineers never have to do any maintance.
So sometimes special spawns happen like rogue firebots, wich are silly but the best they do is slip people or give more janitorial work.
I started to think. Why not have critters that "break" equipment like some sort of Gremlin.
I was more thinking something simple like a mouse with an omnitool or an abillity to chew through wires, wich causes "damage" in the area. (Defintally wire chewer wich has a cooldown.)
Just so staffies and engineering has something to maintain then the "bomb damage"
So how far am I willing to take this critter idea?
Well for starters, they can chew through wires under tiles.
But I did think of more things they could do.
1: Chew wires under the tiles.
2: Can break computers/vending machines by crawling into them and chewing wires. (breaking that the wiring has to be changed).
3: Can also chew wires of camera's (wich needs to be wire replaced rather then a snip)
The abillity will maybe have a 20 second to 40 second cooldown and it has an action bar (so it's not instant)
The point of the critter is to be disruptive but still an easy to kill critter and force in high pop rounds that people can do stuff. Since this will be a small mid-game critter spawn of maybe 2.
Now the last thing... the number of high pop. Since at low pop... such a critter can be very annoying if the crew is already short staffed and dealing with an actual dangerous antag.
I'd say it spawns at atleast 40 crew and more spawn (or more frequently spawn) at each 10 over that. This I am not sure how it works.
I just want to inject more things for people to do. Staffies to pest control with janitors or help engineers fix the damage of these "gremlins"
Eitherway... design wise I think a mouse would do. I can even make the sprites for it if you want.
What do you guys think of this lil critter antag? Any coders/designers think this would be easy to implement? Just give me comments and see if we can use this.
