I don't see a problem with people starting out with kit. Artificial scarcity is how, as others have said, tiding happens. What's in a department doesn't always add up to meet the demands of how many people are in it. You'd end up with situations like John Botany hoarding all the plant analysers and then popping in cryo. It just slows down the gameplay loop for no apparent reason.

Just add more scaristy but add more ways to <buy> more supplies from cargo or other means (if cargo isn't working)
Like cargo won't cost you money or such where as <black market deals> will get you it instantly but will cost you your paycheck. This way getting own money is more fun. Seriously we need more ways to buy stuff in general without cargo's involvement but make it super expensive and something that save for or try to do something to make abit of extra side cash. Too many times have I sat on 50k money without much to do with it cause I already have everything I need... but when I am a clown with NO MONEY. I will try to scam, do my job for extra cash or even do desperate things just so I can afford buying something like Canned Laughter. I want that more in other jobs. Also i'd be funny if black market purcases are seen as CONTRABAND or have a chance of breaking increased |
