Sunlamps and Saurians, synths.
#1
Hi ho. Minor suggestion I just happened to think of:

What if saurians standing within 3 tiles of a sun lamp got fast metabolism. Like the reason reptiles sun themselves.

Saurians by default could have slow metabolism.

Sunlamps could give a buff to make it fast?

To an additional idea with this: synth organed people could heal their organs or selves under a sun lamp.

oo, sounds interesting. i've always wanted synthorgans to be something more than just replacement organs given how difficult they are to make with all the different chem infusions, this could be a good start

For the purposes of this, I'm assuming that by "sun lamp" we're talking about the UV lamps in botany, if there's another kind of sun lamp I'm missing boy will my face be red (from a tan, because UV B rays do that)
Cool concept but: What stops the "meta" of a Lizard device scanning/stealing/buying UV lamps literally every single round and dragging it around with them because they -have- to have fast metabolism. Why? I don't know, but it's good to poke at an idea you like to see if it has some unintended consequences.
Yes yes, I point out to myself: the metabolism traits are pretty niche as it is, but you just know someone will feel some perverse need to keep a "buff" going around the clock.

Maybe it only works around anchored UV lamps? Or if you're not moving? Or just let installing a blacklight tube on station bulbs let saurians get the same effect: Genetics just sitting there in their little purple genetics room cozy. That could be funny.

Funny you say that, because the other source I can think of is the tanning bed by the pool

I kinda feel like them needing to be anchored to 2x4 piece of furniture would counter any buffs.

I didn't think of the sunlamp but thats great

Make sunlamps warm the area up slightly and adjust their base cold resist down to 0%.

Good point. though making all the poor lizards queue up for the non-ruckable tanning bed is a tad cruel. Could be a nice little side thing, the tanning bed as is tends to gather dust or the occasional niche vampire victim.
