Reason for application + game experience:

I've been playing on Goonstation on and off for about 3-ish years now and have played a wide range of roles. I really enjoying helping new players learn the game both in-character and in looc chat. I won't pretend like I know this entire game (I just recently found out guns have a special interaction when you point with them) but who really knows how this spaghetti game works fully?

I originally got into SS13 and by extension Goonstation through TomatoGaming's Nightshade server. If it wasn't for someone willing to create an environment that made what can be a very daunting game more inviting, I likely never would have joined such a fantastic community and made great friends. smile  What pushed me to apply for mentor is that it'd give me the opportunity to give some of that back, in a sense. If I can help someone learn the game and stick around, that's pretty darn cool if you ask me.

Also I've had a mentor mouse sticker on my computer for the past year, so at this point I feel like it's weird if I don't at least try to apply for mentor.

Game Experience by Department:

Science:
Most of my playtime is probably in science, if I had to guess. I'm pretty knowledgeable on chemistry, though I'm a bit less knowledgeable with some of the newer chem tools, like the barrels and the like. I've spent a ton of time with telescience and artifacts, and have taught players (in-character) how to do telescience (using a calculator.) I know how to work the DWAINE terminal for artifact lab and also how to do the more quick and dirty version of artlab.

I'd say Artlab or telescience are where I spend most of my time as a scientist. I've also completed nearly every Azone, with Yogurt and VR Dungeon being the two main exceptions.

I'll also play a ton of Research Director and typically focus on keeping Science in one piece. Research Director is probably where I've done the most instructing, so to speak, since I feel like Science is a popular department for New Bees.

Engineering:
I've experimented with mechcomp in the past and am pretty well-versed with repairing the station. I can set up a basic burn engine well enough, but my least amount of experience is easily with the other engines. I play mining most out of any engineering department, and have done a lot of experimenting with the material science equipment. I'm still not the fastest miner around, though I can mine eribite without much issue. I've also played a fair amount of Cargo, to the point where I've gone a solid idea of what's available and what isn't from the cargo merchants. Factoring in mining and cargo, Engineering is probably my second or third most-played department, though engineer is probably one of my least played jobs, if that makes sense.

Civilian:
I have a lot of play time in botany, catering, janitor, chaplain and staff assistant. I played a lot of bartender and chef when I first started, and generally consider those to be some of the better beginner-friendly rolls in the game. I always enjoyed experimenting with reagents and mixing different drinks together to see what I could brew up. I also really enjoy the cooking system, especially when it comes to the cakes and other baked goods.

Chaplain was a job I played a ton during my first year or so on Goonstation. Given how you don't have too much to do unless there's certain antags running around, I found it a great job to pick when I wanted to RP or chase some extra goal, like redecorating the chapel. It's also a great job for practicing RP.

Botany is probably one of my favorite jobs to play and one that I got a lot more experience with over the past year. I love experimenting with seed splicing to see what works. Botany feels like a puzzle that you experiment with to try and figure out, which is a ton of fun for me.

I keep Janitor as a low priority job (at least) on all my characters. It's fun, chill, and a great way to see a lot of what's going on during a round. I've earned my janitorial beret and have a decent chunk of playtime in this job. It's kind of relaxing to wander around station and keep things clean.
Overall, Civilian is probably my second or third most-played department and it's easily the one that I'm the most confident with my knowledge in.

Medical:
I'll occasionally play Medical Doctor, though the high-stress nature of the job isn't really my thing. I know a decent amount of medical and, before the surgery rework, could take out someone's appendix pretty darn quick. I'm okayish with Robotics and know how to build a borg/AI decently well. Medical is probably my least played department, but I've still played enough to know the basics on what you need to use to treat common problems.

That being said, I'll play genetics all the time and will 100% be the geneticist who's too engrossed in their console to see the plasma fire outside. Nope, not gettin' out of me chair!

Security:
Every so often, I'll play a Detective or Security Assistant round. I like to say I'm familiar enough with Space Law, and I know generally what's a fair amount of time to brig someone for based on the crime.  I usually like to go where people say I'm needed and tend to try and play a more defensive security officer who matches the pace the antag is going at. Much like medical doctor, security is one I play sparely due to the fast-paced nature of the job. That being said, I probably play Security more than Medical.

Previous bans: I've been warned twice from what I recall, but never banned.
