SIGNIFICANT QOL changes to ranching

The nerds will maybe just go "huh, so you need 2 feeds of lizard tails for a stone chicken to get cockatrices instead of the 6-7 for most other chickens" (yes, from my testing it is in fact significant less feeds for cockatrices) and "huh, so i need to shove the henk this exact amount of times for it to lay cluwne eggs instead of going by feeling".
This is honestly the exact post i wanted to see. I encourage you to share the results of your testing if you are so inclined

My only real issue with ranching is that it feels designed around RP-length rounds, essentially meaning if you are latejoining as rancher then most of the time on classic you won't actually get to get very far down the tree, and as antag rancher if you don't know how to minmax it (or get unlucky) its often you willspend most the round just growing the chickens you want

I thunk latejoin ranchers need a different angle to play with. Sheep wool or fishing would present thenselves (and wool is fucking awesome against ranged weapons) as good short-term goals, while chickens are more long-term goals because of their sheer power.

Well, time to go coding fishing stuff then, i guess.

Nah you can really speed run that shit. The hardest part is rooster/hen rng.

If I get around to it I'll start uploading my rancher notes

It would be cool if there is an item that bypasses this RNG. We have genetics messing with people's DNA and Monkey DNA... why not add a lil splice of chicken to it?

Chicken in-ovo sexing when?

Jokes aside, that rng component really is not that bad. If you get a rooster you can hatch 6 and more chickens at a time, half of them will be the roosters chicken type, so once you hatched one you can overpower the rng aspect by pure numbers fairly quickly. Botany rng in comparison is more cruel at times (10% splices... ugh).
