[CLOSED PR] Renames the Bible to Sacred Tome + edits icon to be religiously neutral
#16
I don't hate the idea behind this change, I think it's actually rather admirable. However, personally, I just find this change to be the most bland way of going about things. I don't think this is some sort of "censorship" or anything, but I just think we should replace the book with something as full of character as the bible is, or use the extra books added in the rework project as some sort of job reward where you can swap between book types, so the Bible isn't the only "important" holy book mechanically.

I don't know. I just wish this was a more inspired change and wasn't just an effort to avoid potential controversy because of an irl religion being represented. I think there were plenty of better ways to do the same thing with existing assets, but I also know that there's some pushback in the community to using reskinned-bibles. Eh.

I'd rather just let the chaplain pick what it looks like (from a preset of shit in the deus ex machina vendor) and whatnot upon using it for the first time.

would people prefer the IRL religion books be added as scriptures (the books in the chapel vendor)? My intent here is to make it so you don't have to consider IRL religious meanings when adding a interaction with the bible, my intent here isn't censorship but to make the gameplay items not have these connotations to streamline anything added in relation to it.

Sorry, I was not referring to the PR specifically. There is nothing wrong with putting in the work toward a heavily requested change. I was referring to the general community attitude around how religion should be treated. It's not like the hollowed-out-gun-holding-gas-smiting Bible is handled with special reverence within the game.
