Chef Cuisine Selection
#1
Well all love being the chef at one point and we love all these dishes we can make.. but sometimes.. you want to be a specific type of kitchen and you learn that the recipes you want to add to the list... is something you do not have acces at the moment. So you gotta wait for botany to grow and harvest it or hope cargo can get their hands on the ingridents.
But uuh ooh.. Cargo doesn't have the budget right now or time to do it. It's buy/selling time. Gotta wait till the next cycle.
And botany is slow....

So while the kitchen mostly has more then enough to serve great food. I want to give chef's that want to run specific types of kitchen a small nudge.

I want to change the "Vendomat" of the kitchen to have different modules to make specific menu's more possible.
The current one has a lot of options but certain dishes remain out of reach.

So the vendomatt will have the option at the start to be set to "Standard" or "Specialized kitchens" and this will include themed kitchens.
So Japanese, Mexican and such.
Allowing Chefs to have a small limited supply of ingridents to roleplay their chef's speciality.

Now did I go down the selection and possiblities for this suggestion? YES.
Did I come up with the right lists? NO.

Cause I am not a cultured man. But I do think this will eliviate a few things for the chef. I was also thinking allowing chili peppers to appear... but this one is questionable due to possible Capsci abuse.

Anyway.. I was just suggestion the thing in general and the more I researched the more I was like: "I am way over my head"
So do people think the idea in general is good? What should be the way to go?

Also also:
If we implement this feature I think some parts of the kitchen can be dissolved/removed into this "cuisine vendomat system"
It makes the kitchen more streamlined and less stuff around. I know the fridge is my least favorite thing to get ingridents from.. rather just pull it out of the vendomatt then put it in the fridge for later use.

if it have special restock for foodtech might be good idea.Since people tend to do specific type of menu.
For me i mostly do japanese food all the time ( Ramen / Sushi / Curry / Onigiri ) might be good that have more cool japanese stuff to do.and didnt need to hack the vendor every round. However i dont think we should decreaase the list of ingredient for that.i just want it possible to buy from QM.and the problem will end to Chef-QM problem.
Chef cant get much credit from his product they make. For example you need to butcher a lot of monkey like 5-10 monkeys to gain meat to sell enoguh to buy other product which is quite not make sense for me. If make food from chef can sell in better price (assume like 100-300 per item ) might be enough for them to work and sell /buy anything they want.

Replacing the fridge with a vendor-type thing that gives the option of different sets of themed starting ingredients sounds like a pretty good idea to me, call it a smart fridge or something. Perhaps move all the ingredients out of the FoodTech into the smart fridge's starting options, and rebalance any slack into cargo's food crates instead of the vendor restock. I'm imagining something more functionally similar to the player vending machine than vendomats, in that it'd act more like a manually-restockable storage container that just so happens to be able to stock itself one time.

It'd mean the chef would more likely be able to get a start on making specific food they want at roundstart without interfering too much with their botany relationship. They'd also be more likely to ask for different products from botany because chefs would start with different lists of ingredients each round.

Frankly I don't really see that big of a problem with the fact that sometimes the kitchen runs out of specific ingredients while botany/cargo is unavailable. If it's lowpop then the answer is to just do the botany yourself, because you're not treading on anyone's toes when there's no toes to tread on; and otherwise you just take it as a challenge to make other food with what you have, because part of the chaos of the game is that you don't always have the resources to do exactly what you want at all times.

Know the frustrations, have never had a good solution to it, but love this idea. Have the smart fridge / vendomat / whatever spawn as an empty variant and upon interacting with it, you get to choose your starting ingredients. Very simple yet elegant solution, it allows people to focus on particular foods they want to make, and anything more complex they'll still need botany for.

I think it might be cool if the fridge was linked to botany instead of having to lug bags over idk

I like how people added functionality to it. Now we just need someone to code it. New sprites would be cool.

I do notice no one has any ideas what the starting modules should be.

So we agree with the following:
- A "fridge" or "Vendomat" that is empty till the chef interacts with it and sets the starting ingridents.
- Gives theme based starts but more advance food will always need cargo or botany. insted of the clutter of things and the lack of certain specialty stuff.
- Will be linked to botany so they can send their supplies easily to the vendomat insted of their annoying bag or chute system that always makes messes.

What we still need:
- How many "Starting modules" we get.
- Wich ingridents are in those modules.

Aka exactly the things I am not sure how to do propperly.
If someone would make a list of cultural kitchen sets we can make and what should be in it. We can limit it to maybe 5?

I had something like that done 80% but gave up at the TGUI hurdle. Maybe I'll just toss what I got to someone who has motivation to

I'm down to help brainstorm and code things, Discord may be preferrable to the forum, feel free to ping me about it (my tag is glamurio).
