often when i get caught in these i need to close the game due to being made feeling physically ill from all the shaking

reduce everything about the atomic blowout event. to be clear :

Too much screenshake
The annoying siren lasts WAY too long (i'd rather have a different SFX entirely if someone can find one)
The 30 second period after the blowout has ended in which you will still die from radiation is dumb, remove that
