Remove player critters.
#1
I had a good traitor round today, that is until someone spawned as a critter, tracked me down, and was instrumental in killing me. While I was stunned by someone else and probably dead anyway, the fact a critter was responsible for more than half the damage I took and ruined my chance to save myself was infuriating and frustrating.

This is not the first critter-asshole I have experienced, they often steal IDs and do other garbage. The whole thing is a bad idea because you just can't trust people with them. The names are generic and there's no solid rules like drones.

I don't want to be an asshole and just kill every critter I see, but at this point I absolutely have to especially if I'm a traitor. The fact that they're so damn hard to hit and fighting in this engine is awful means that is more difficult said than done.

Potential solutions:

Disable critters abilties to remove clothes or cause any amount of harm.
Just delete them altogether it ended up adding very little and potentially ruining rounds if used poorly. We already have drones.
Make critters more effective, TALKING SPACE DOGS, but make them at round-start only instead of an after-death option.

It was only a cockroach, also the player who attacked was dealt with according to your adminhelp + communications.

It still adds nothing and is ripe for abuse due to the lack of drone-esque rules and limitations. The drones have a neat purpose too, critters are just worthless. They shouldn't be able to do this stuff to begin with- why do critters have the ability to remove clothing?

"Only a cockroach," also lacks the context of any critter, even a cockroach, taking multiple hits to kill and being able to put you into brute crit health with 30 seconds or so of attacks, which isn't hard if you're stunned.

I have to pretty much agree with SRQ, I've been killed as antag by a mouse before and the best response I got about why was that someone said, "if they know you're an antag, they can attack you." not sure how reasonable that is by admins, but it seems pretty fucking rude to do. As well, ghost critters don't really serve much of a purpose except to allow dead people to annoy others, complete staying alive and escape goals, and possibly ruin antag kill objectives and definitely antag escape alone objectives.

I vote to remove ghost critters, polymorphs are still good though.

I agree with the posts by SRQ and Drago and because I believe things like critters and ghost drones rob a huge part of the tension from the game by making death less important.

Dying and then using knowledge you got from being dead or in this case dying and becoming a critter and using what you knew as a living human is pretty much metagaming in my eyes and I would have adminhelp that guy Drago. If a admin gave you the same reason as him I would then make a complaint as I don't see how that's NOT metagaming.

I was cuffed and being dealt with by the captain and a security officer and a scientist already, then mouse just came in and killed me. Antag or not, critters shouldn't have the right to just attack first, EVER.

I had a very similar situation to this a long time ago (cockroach using a flash on me as a traitor after killing people) and was told they would probably need to be nerfed and was awarded an antag token. If they could just not pick up items at all and not do damage and take one hit like NPC critters to kill I feel it would be more balanced.

Ghost critters, though, have such ridiculously low health that one punch or two is enough to knock 'em out for good. The fact that they can remove clothing, however, is frankly quite jarring, especially since they initially couldn't physical interact with humans at all. I'm not really sure what the reasoning for the change was.

made some changes for ghost critters :

- can't strip humans who are alive
- can't will themselves to smack a human into the critically wounded range.
- can't point at people
- no longer breaks the 'escape alone' objective

Also please note that many of the problems encountered in the past have been silently addressed without a changelog message.
for example, they only have enough HP to survive two hits at most. They can't disarm, grab, or push people over. they also can't operate any machines or air equipment that could be used to do Dangerous stuff.

(as always, continue to report anyone who abuses their rank as disgusting vermin)

Something like this would be better than removing them outright:

butterfly pokes you with a screwdriver!
cockroach tries to remove your shoes but its puny arms(legs?Mouth?) are too weak!

Edit: Damn you mbc and your fast coding
