How does a virtual headset used in VR send out signals that gets sent to real headsets?

the version that makes the most sense.

There's a intermediary converting virtual radio signals into real radio signals.

same way vmware/virtualbox do internet on a guest OS (with a virtual connection being connected to a real connection, somehow.)

The other possibility is it's space magic.
