Minor Cutting bamboo stalks does nothing

Cutting a bamboo stalk , whether it's with a knife or chainsaw, gives a message along the lines of "You carefully cut the bamboo shoot", implying some of new item is created. However, no new item is created, like Arborinus's patch documentation states. I know it's not invisible like the haggis thing; cutting a stalk on the floor and right clicking the "pile" reveals no new item, and cutting it in hand and trying to hit something with it does nothing.
