Better Random Events
#16
Another random event idea,

Due to incompetence, politics, or some other matter, nanotrasen has decided to demote the captain to the rank of Staff Assistant. The station must strip him of his title.

I love the evil clone idea!

But yeah, I can see even that being a bit much to put in the hands of salty spirits.

Don't the current black holes still turn into one and eat Security within like, thirty seconds or less after spawning? I've never seen a black hole be averted when the event triggered. Did they fix that?

I think that black holes should, at least initially, just rip up floor tiles and give the room a vicious redecorating. Maybe it could also pull in items and then teleport them to another part of the station, like blasting all of the planters in Botany into the combustion chamber.

Monkey Rev mode. Oh sweet Shitty Bill, that would be kind of terrifying.

Maybe a ghost could be assigned to a random, non-braindead player to haunt. Basically just making items VERY close to the haunted person twitch and move slightly, making weird spooky messages pop up, and causing ghostly apparitions every now and then. Of course this means the ghost still has no power whatsoever to influence the round.

id like this as a thing all ghosts can do, just minor things that mean nothing, for annoying people on lljk2 or rp spooks on lljk1

I love those, but I also don't want them to get played out. It's not unusual for game-veterans to be fooled by them for a minute or two.

How about fire? Can we do something with fire? I like fire. I miss the large fires people used to set on Cog1. Now only the borgs set fires.

I'm trying to think of addition low-profile antags that won't automatically default to 'kill everything', but I can't think of any. I would like to see more hard-mode traitors though. Some of the most entertaining traitors I've watched were hard mode because they couldn't just grab a c-saber and go to town.

New Boss: A random, living, non-head crewmember becomes a hardmode traitor with the following objective: "1. You deserve a promotion. Get the head of your department demoted and yourself promoted to their old job. This objective is not tracked, so have fun with it."

Cannibal Cookout: A random living crewmember becomes a hardmode traitor with the following objective: "1. You crave the taste of human flesh. Prepare or convince someone else to prepare an elaborate nine course feast featuring human meat, then invite the crew to eat it with you. This objective is not tracked, so have fun with it."

Pyromania: A random living crewmember becomes a hardmode traitor with the following objective: "1. Burn it all down. Burn it. Burn it all. This objective is not tracked, so have fun with it."

There is a lot of good stuff on this thread, but I'm worried that we are losing sight of the forest through the trees.

i like all these ideas but i think becoming a hard mode traitor would be abused, people could and probably would just ignore the objectives and rampage/do whatever and then it would just be a random event that makes someone a hardmode traitor and that might be a bad idea

there are ways to cause a lot of damage and misery without necessarily using traitor weapons. they arent always reliable ways, or easy ways, but there are ways

sure but it seems like such an odd criticism about ignoring objectives since they're supposed to be entirely optional

whatever they can find. have you ever played this game people take no gear as standard traitors for fun

also im just saying instead of random hardmode traitors, maybe have an event that increases the chance of random event or late joining antags. idk im contradicting myself here but at least make it normal antags.

"centcomm announcement

extreme levels of salt detected, beware of vengeful spirits"

or something
