Reason for application + game experience (300 word minimum): I've always been passionate about this amazing game, full of complex mechanics that take months to years to get the hang of! the reason i decided to apply for mentor is to teach players whether they're new or not the ins and outs of this game, or atleast make sure they don't stand still in front of HOP wondering where and what thier ID is while getting yelled at by said HOP about how it's right there for 20-30 minutes straight on thier first round(........alright perhaps that was too specific), after all, the other players did bother to teach me so it would only make sense for me to pass all that knowledge to the next generation of players!
Engineering: my most played department, mostly as CE, i know everything i need about mining in space including how to deal with nanites, haven't done much mining on the trench, however, i know the safer ways to do it (fuck trench critters) as well as having memorized the classifications of ores for the most part, have done some QM-ing, and of course engineering, i know how to operate all types of engine and even build a singulo from scratch, i know some more advanced tricks to raise output, i can often figure out why the engine stops working, i know some packeting and how to deal with breaches and assemble some stuff. And as for mechcomp....aside from automating TEG, nuclear and singulo along with thier respecive PTL and making teleporters i don't have that much experience.....yet!
Security: i might not be the most robust person out there but i believe i have a good grasp of this department, never played det yet and haven't done much forensics, i know the general concept of trying to make the round more interesting for both antags and non antags while still making sure to actually do my job instead of going purely for the win, can help with the basics, not my most played department but i do play as a secoff sometimes.
Research: been getting to it lately, have an idea of how to make a bomb although the best i did so far was a TTV that can only fully destroy a 3×3 area, done some chemistry (mostly healing chems), i have a pretty good knowledge about artifact research and i actually do remember the correct mass drivers to use to dispose of art bombs in diffrent maps as a result of me accidentally bombing the armory that one time my previous experience, and i've done some adventuring, although there's still much left for me to accomplish. I've played with guardbuddies and have used the harmonic siphon a fair amount of times, and I've been getting into the more nerdy stuff (still work in progress) about dwaine, termos and chemfuck although i barely applied or tested that knowledge.
Medical: One of my better departments in terms of experience, i have a more extended knowledge about healing drugs aswell as some tricks for dealing with more severe cases, i can do pharmacy to get us some useful chems, i know how to make an AI as well as doing augmentations and surgery, and i am good at being a geneticist and have the knowledge to combine mostly useless genes for the good ones.
Command: my most played department......if you can call it that, been playing MDir, RD, CE, and sometimes Captain or HOP pretty much at any given chance, enjoyed the extra toys they get as well as the right to announce some hopefully absurd stuff from my office, and also fixing the laws after they've been modified in a negative way, i play as the first 3 jobs especially because they actually have a purpose unlike say captain which i believe is better for those who can come up with gimmicks.
Silicon: played as door opener AI and of course borgs (mostly when i am AI), i had a fair share of rounds as those roles, got the hang of having no arms and i always try my best to obey my laws, I've have highlighted the word "AI" and whatever my AI name is to increase my chances of spotting and responding to requests.
Civilian: ah yes my starting department, haven't played much of it after my first 100 hours of the game, especially since i main command now, my favorite job here is chef, haven't played bartender for so long, had some rounds as botanist and janitor, never played chaplain, only played clown twise, rarely play gimmik jobs, thats really all i have to say.
Antagonist: barely any experience, although i do know about listening post and again the idea of making an interesting round with whatever gimmik i come up with IF i come up with one, i mostly get picked as antag during admin interference.
As for how i actually teach people i often let them interact with the actual mechanics since its easier to forget theorie then practice, while delaying doing my job just to get them ready to start thiers whether that's for the better or for worse (rip station lights because of my slowass teaching a newbee how to start a TEG)
