The Claim-Reward verb only yields

instead of the expected reward selection menu while in AEye form.

You have to Recall to Mainframe first for some reason. If I had to take a guess as to why, the AI Eye isn't classified as the same job as AI, but I could be completely wrong.

The AEye is buggier than an ant farm. In general, if something doesn't work while observing, try recalling to the mainframe.
