Minor borg bug

so, i made a borg, and it was braindead.  simple fix, right? wrong, apparently.  i couldnt take the brain out of the borg, even though i was doing the exact same thing to remove it as both the wiki and experience said.  an admin looked into it and confirmed it.  any help?
