According to the MBC and the wiki, thermal goggles are supposed to increase your view range in darkness. They do not, at the moment.

I don't think they really have any secondary function at the moment. They're only good for spotting cloakers

In that case, I don't know why MBC said that they should increase your view range by 100% like mesons.
