Minor Unopenable normal object asteroid

I was mining as usual, but I found a piece of asteroid (not the compacted stone kind) that, no matter WHAT I hit it with, even a powered on power hammer or concuss gauntlets, or even a concussive charge or custom mining pick, it simply did not open. Now, I'm unsure if this is a bug, or an intentional super-secret thing.
