"improper argument" when interacting with certain machines

I've encountered this message sometimes upon scanning for other PDAs, using a soda machine, using the AI control console and etc. Seemingly everything that uses the basic console pop-up interface. Alongside the prompt, dreamseeker also crashes as a result. This effect seems to limit itself to random things per round and isn't constant from round to round. In the same round, interacting with the same thing does crash the game and give the same prompt.

My version of BYOND is up to date and has not been modified in anyway.
