I just tested this with Gannets and found out that if you wear a wrestling belt and replace it with something else that goes on the belt slot using the V hotkey (WASD mode), you retain your wrestling abilities even if you are not wearing the belt anymore.
How to reproduce:
1)Acquire a championship belt
2)Wear the belt
3)Replace the belt with something else that goes in the belt slot using the V hotkey (WASD mode). In my case, it was my PDA.
4)Become the wrastler forever even if someone steals your belt.
The effects remain EVEN if the belt is destroyed.
