Classic LOOC

Big Grin
I think LOOC should be allowed on classic!
So of course Roleplay/staying in-character is allowed and encouraged on classic despite not being the core focus of the servers, I think LOOC would be a beneficial QOL change because it'd help to seperate IC and OOC thoughts and feelings; because when talking to another player on classic it may (occasionally) be hard to discern if its the 'character' talking or the 'player'. So I believe LOOC would help distinguish the player and character and maybe encourage some rp on classic while not enforcing it or anything.

Of course you'd also have the issue of ghost LOOC being able to be heard by the living but I think that's more of a metagaming issue if it's abused..

I believe LOOC in classic could be cool to help with roleplaying BUT I would only like it if we kept allowing OOC in regular chat, and LOOC not being a required thing but just optional if you want.

Thumbs Up
I think this would be really nice on Classic. Not like as an enforced standard, but just something nice to enable RP on the Classic server cus like the rules say it is welcome.

I guess there could be an issue with abuse? But we already have metacomming rules for that. Plus LOOC is logged and would be trivial to moderate. I assume that's already done on the RP servers. surprised fat and sassy space-bee

can't they just make it so the living can't hear LOOC if it's from ghosts. this doesn't seem that hard to fix but maybe I'm mistaken

I don't really mind if LOOC is added as long as there's nothing stupid involved like forcing people to use it instead of speaking since it's just using chat normally but with a different button and color to your text

As of right now, LOOC doesn't care about anything happening to your character, if your mute, have no air, if the targets deaf, through walls. nothing that's in game will block LOOC unless your out of range and thus I think its a bad idea unless LOOC gets a classic exclusive overhaul of LOOC

I'm not somebody who plays a lot of classic but I've had exactly one situation I really wanted LOOC which was when I joined to play around for like 20 minutes as detective to kill time before a midsummer event where I was a witch. But got pulled into a side room and murdered and pulled into a mindhack cloner. I wish I could of told them that "Hey I've gotta get going for a event I'm really sorry about this" but I couldn't because I had to leave so I just hit DNR and saw them get annoyed at me before I logged off. (Which was fair I would be annoyed too)

It was a bit of a minor issue because I did get to say sorry about that in the discord chat afterwords, but it would of been nice to explain myself at the moment it was happening.

Someone paralyzed going in LOOC "hey, person XY is a ling and dragging me into maintenance" is a real possibility. I don't think it's a good idea.

I mean you can already do that with custom emotes

Pretty sure paralysis blocks visible emotes and mute blocks audio emotes, so both would be blocked for a ling sting
