There have probably been a variety of threads like this over the years where we suggest ideas for job rewards but I didn't seen any there were recent so I'm making one now!
To preface, I really like job rewards. They're a fun way to show your dedication to a particular station job! That said I feel some jobs get more love than others and would like to see that change. One in particular is security officers. On a round yesterday I rolled security so decided I wanted to do something a little different as a secoff. I found a 75-gallon hat, went to the clothing booth and got myself some cowboy boots and Western attire, and even went to the HoP and got my job changed from "Security Officer" to "Security Deputy". Last but not least I took off my armor vest and put on my NT security badge. Looked pretty good. But then I thought, wait, it would be awesome if I could get a sprite swap that made the security badge into an old timey sheriff's badge! Tin star and all that.
I'd love to hear what ideas others have for rewards for jobs that currently don't have any! For me a big one is security, but I know there are others.

I personally really heavily dislike job rewards and think players should just have access to them without jumping through hoops.
I dislike exp based rewards systems that encourage players to only play one job to unlock something, I've definitely noticed people only playing one job and exploiting yhe exp system until they burn out, like janitors just mopping water in place, or botanist rolling massive amounts of joints and growing weed to do so.
Hell, I played HoS nonstop back to back during covid for HoS xp, which was not great for my enjoyment of the game .

What if they just made the things that get you XP, fun, so people naturally just got job rewards and it was just a neat thing that you can check once in a while to get special items, like how most people treat that system

I tend to play specific roles too and DO NOT CARE FOR THESE!
And to this day I still do not care. Since it unlocks nothing too special but a new coat of paint. That's it.
And I think it should be kept that way!

I agree on Cal with the exp reward system. I'd love to get a Head of Sanitation hat but i'd rather not grind the janitor role for it. Job specific variant items are really nice, I think the more variation on station the better. Could maybe get rid of the XP tracker and tie job rewards to certain medals/objectives like the base reward system? Theres a ton of items there i'd rather see in a short job rewards list then the compendium of the "redeem reward" list. I've never needed to redeem the round bottom beaker as a security officer, may as well put it in the scientist/RD role
As for actual ideas on job reward items...I got nothin.

To be clear, this thread is not about the job reward xp system. It's about what people think would be good job rewards. I don't have a strong opinion on the xp system either way. I will say I think incentivizing players to play a job (ie actually doing the things that job is supposed to do) is a nice thing.
For janitors I think you should get xp based on how much ~filth~ you remove instead of how many times you mop the same tile. Like you can go crazy if you really want to cleaning the station by going into the maintenance halls and scrubbing the dirt.

personally i like the xp system because it shows you've played that job a bunch and thus have experience but if people are just farming it for the sake of "hey look i have all the rewards" then it's a bit meh
anyways, since nobody actually gave ideas regarding the initial post, heres some of mine for some neat / fun job rewards:
staff assistants get a welding mask reskin that gives it a staffie blue stripe on the top, and a reward that turns toolbelts into the same color palette as the staffie jumpsuit (obviously not to the point of making them invisible at a glance)
miners get fancy powered pickaxes and hammers (they glow green instead of orange when on), and even fancier powered pickaxes and hammers (they glow BLUE! sick!)
engineers get an oil-stained variant of their jumpsuit, and oil-stained insulated gloves

Each job should get a uniform that you can use that has a number on the back correlating to how many levels you have in the job.
So like a new player to the job would have a 0 on the back and then when they get to level 1 it would change to that.
Obviously the uniform should only be an optional outfit if they want to put it on but I think it would be funny to see people being like, "Oh you are just a level 1 staff assistant, so weak. I however am a level 50 grey suit and can steal everything in the armory within 5 minutes of round start!"
This probably would only be a good idea in Classic servers though because it would break immersion for the role players.

I've always wanted the surgeon's gown to be a job reward for doctors.
