New Negative Trait: Pacemaker
#1
I know people FIEND for more negatives to give to their characters and I think I have a good one, the pacemaker.

It is what it says on the tin, your character needs a pacemaker to keep their heart pumping correctly. Absence of it would cause a random chance to enter cardiac failure. Taking strong shocks has a chance to disable it, perhaps weaker being only temporary and stronger shocks having a higher chance to be permanent, while an EMP is all but ensured to ruin your pacemaker.

However I am not sure of the best way you could implement it, such as if it should just be a pacemaker heart organ or an external implant.

While I like this idea in execution.
I think it should be a 0 trait since...
"My heart sucks, I might as well get a cyber heart"
And we all know people who gamify to win.. will take this negative trait if it gives -1 and just install a new heart.

we have an anti-powergaming rule explicitely for that behaviour. So i don't think that's a reason to make it a 0 instead of a -1.

counterargument: patient's body struggles to keep up with the standard heartbeat pace and as a result tends to fail; pacemakers fix this issue by regulating heartbeat according to the patient's current conditions -- and while a heart can in fact be replaced, cyberhearts will still cause problems unless a pacemaker is added onto it, forcing the patient to have one if they want to not suffer the disease that is Death

i remember i suggest pacemaker longtime ago got some good feedback from it.
and i would love if allow it to surgery feature.in my post  i suggest about pacemaker that allow to auto defib them self while crit. which quite not realistic.
anyway i would love if medical department have new toy to play with but i hope should have some benefit and balance downside.
for example pacemaker should have chance to fail when you got electrify zab.but can auto defib them self .
and about method to use it IRL there is skin pacemaker and intravenous pacemaker one can attach to skin another need to do some minor surgery (and the most effective is intrathoracis pacemaker ) so i think if want to add pacemaker in game should have to do some procedure to install it. the trait you mention might just allow them to have it already without need surgery.

I'd think implant. We have robotic hearts that require surgery, so having a less invasive option makes sense

I like the idea of a suite of medical implants for managing some health conditions. Maybe something that monitor blood sugar and insulin levels, another for administering anti-histamines for allergic reactions.

i think that would be very interesting, on the condition that robotics makes them.
