Around four years ago, I tried to contribute to the wiki and created the wiki page for sec assistants. However, I did something only an idiot could do, and I accidentally posted a video with several slurs as the supplementary video. After being sploded, I’ve tried to explain the accident to the staff; there were factors not mentioned in my bans, but a proper discussion of the actual incident never occurred.

Server: Main, RP, Forums, Discord
Date + times: August 14, 2021 | 9:33 pm EST
Synopsis: Important background information is required before describing the incident. Before the incident, I had a very rough history on Goonstation. Joining in June 2020, in around a year, I got 4 bans in total. The first ban was by Studenterhue for griefing as a ghost drone by spacing rooms, the second was for rampaging as antag and blowing up Medbay’s cryo pods, the third was for griefing/attacking security officers as assistant, and I think the fourth was for hoarding weapons/powergaming and turning the cargo lobby into an autonomous zone while arguing with staff about powergaming. In addition, I heard that my first ban appeal was placed in the worst ban appeals category, which included me saying, “Oh well, time to ban evade.” Needless to say, I was a horrendous player and this was something I knew at the time.

Disclaimer: Considering everything I’ve just said, it’s obviously very hard to take anything I say after seriously. I just want to say, I tried to put in the work to put legitimacy back in my words. Since the ban, I’ve played and contributed to other servers. I haven’t had a ban in 3 years, gotten ban vouchers from Paradise and Beestation, and became one of the highest-ranking wiki contributors for Paradise Station. I got my vouch from Paradise on November 5th, 2023, and from Beestation on May 13th, 2025. All this just to retroactively prove that I was genuine in my intent to change while I was contributing to Goonstation’s wiki.

Now about the actual incident; on August 14th, 2021, I decided to write the wikipage for Sec Assistants. I knew of my tenuous position on the server and decided I should contribute for once. I played multiple rounds of Sec assistant to familiarize myself and asked questions on Discord to get the necessary information. As this was the first time I ever edited on a wiki, the end result wasn’t the best, but the entire process did require genuine effort. Creating an entire job guide from scratch with zero experience is hard, and overall, it took several hours to complete.

Now, the actual issue occurred when I was finalizing the guide. In the end, I added a supplementary video with the initial creation of the wikipage. It was a movie clip I vaguely remembered from the Clint Eastwood movie “Dirty Harry”, which involved a detective getting a new partner. While editing, the two issues for me with adding the supplementary video were:
  1. I didn’t know the guidelines for supplementary videos, such as copyright-wise.
  2. More importantly, I vaguely remembered a mexican slur in the video.
Rather than just remove the video based on the Rule 4 violation, I didn’t think that far ahead. I decided to get an authority on wiki matters to review the video instead.

Something I never mentioned until now is the reason I never rewatched the video. The reason why I never mentioned this is because it’s somewhat revealing information. However, I feel it’s necessary to explain everything fully at this point. So, I hope some of you are familiar with young people who sometimes have to help out at their parent’s restaurant. I was one of those people. My parents didn’t like me wasting time on anything other than academics. During the Summer of 2021, I took online classes and was expected to focus on them full time. I would be taken to the restaurant and my laptop screen would be positioned directly in my parent’s sightline so they can always check on what I was doing. During this time, I usually played late at night or during a designated 2 hours. While I was creating the wikipage, my parents couldn’t discern wiki text from homework. However, watching Youtube movie clips was too incriminating. So aside from my carelessness, there was a reason I didn’t rewatch the video. It doesn’t justify not rewatching it, but it was the reason.

So, while covertly using Discord, I asked around for who to talk to about the Wiki and they directed me to Studenterhue. I DMed Studenterhue at 9:22 pm and continued editing the finished wikipage. At 9:33 pm, Studenterhue responded and removed the video themselves. I was making more edits when I noticed Studenterhue’s response and I asked if they wanted it taken down, not knowing it was already done. Soon after, I was banned from the forums, server, and Discord. Afterwards, I finally rewatched the video and found out one of the characters spouts out a list of slurs.

Reading the reasons for the bans, I don’t think staff knew the full context of the situation. The forum ban stated, “After discussing your “Please don’t put videos with several slurs…” ban with other admins, we’ve decided to hand a permaban. You’ve a history of breaking the rules, over and over, after being given chance after chance to reform. It’s time you part.” The issue is that if this involved my failure to reform, the factors surrounding the incident should’ve been mentioned. The fact is, I wrote a wiki page with a supplementary video, and then DMed an admin to review the video. In that context, can’t it be believed that the video was a mistake rather than an act of maliciousness? That my contribution to the wiki was an attempt to reform?

I believe staff may have interpreted my interaction with Studenterhue as malicious due to my past interactions with them. While that’s understandable, I believe not asking me about my true intent or allowing me to explain what happened was a shortcoming on the staff’s part.

After the bans, I made a Reddit post on what happened. Leeanie and Jan.tilles posted on the thread, the latter being a mentor at the time, both focusing on my previous behavior. Later attempts at contact have been unsuccessful as well. I tried to contact staff through Discord after my Beestation vouch, where they said they had no intention of contact. I tried to explain everything through Discord anyway, but that was shut down as well. I also made a ban appeal, which hasn’t had a response in over a month.

Ultimately, I think the final straw matters. I shouldn’t have posted the video without rewatching it. However, if someone actually tried to contribute to the wiki and screwed up without knowing it, going so far as to ask an admin for review, only to get banned from everything with no recourse, there has to be something wrong.

Chatlogs: It should be noted that the wiki’s time seems to be +4 hours EST, which my Discord operates at.

Extra info: Honestly, I just want this issue addressed. 4 years ago on the Reddit post I made, I said I would exhaust all options to have my case properly looked at, this seems like the logical conclusion.

No, and don't include mentors in feedbacks for any reason, even if your reason is "they became an admin".

Just to be clear (for you, and for anyone else looking at this thread), we never have, in the entire history of the server, nor do we currently, accept vouches from other servers.
