Norah Snow (Angelx3) HoS Application
#1
Usual character name: Norah Snow
BYOND username: Angelx3
Discord username (if you are on our discord): shougorori
Recommended by (if applicable): polydanke (Poly Danx)
Goon servers you play:  Goon 1 Classic

Reason for application:

The reason for my application is that i enjoy playing security a lot, getting to interact with antags and dying in funny ways to their devious plans, and believe playing HoS would be really fun, with being a bigger target for antagonists, and also being more of a coordinator of the security team, ensuring everyone is doing well.

Security experience (300 word minimum):

I have been playing security for quite awhile, sometimes I take breaks from it and play other roles just to chill, like staff assistant or engineering, but security is definitely one of my most played roles. I have improved from my last application by handling antagonists with more leeway, taking into account what's going on the current shift, and trying to ensure the round stays fun for everyone, both crew and antagonist alike, like if someone is doing a gimmick with a bowling kit, turning the station into a bowling alley, not taking their bowling suit, but rather just confiscating some of the balls if they used it to assault the crew, that way they could grow bowling melons as replacement balls, or steal the balls back from contraband or have spare balls stashed away. I have also improved in my leadership skills, communicating with my team, when I have one, as much as possible, communicating arrests and current suspicions. I also believe it's important to communicate with the antagonists, if you're arresting someone, let them know why and what not, try to get their side of the story, engage with them so the arrest isn't the end of the fun, but part of it. I have also started trying to help out my team more, trying to help new officers and assistants learn how to use secmate and other security related things, letting them know I'm fine with them asking anything, and willing to teach them anything they might be unsure about, also making sure they're enjoining themselves as well. Overall, I have been having a lot of fun interacting with the antagonists and with my teams, and security remains one of the most fun roles to me, and possibly one of the roles you can get the most interaction with everyone with, both crew and antagonists alike.

Answer two or more of the following:

What advice would you give to other sec players?

Don't get too absorbed into "being an officer", even though you're security, you can hang out with crew, do silly things and have fun. Play around with the clown, have a disarm intent fight, slip on banana peels and slip people on banana peels. Remember, its a videogame and the most important part is to have fun.

What was one of your favorite security moments? (Either playing as a sec officer or interacting with one)

Recently I had a really fun shift where a clown traitor had bought a cloaking device, at first they were just being silly dragging objects around pretending to be a ghost, and stealing shoes and what not, I went along with it yelling about ghosts and also being goofy. Later they started escalating their crimes more, and eventually captain wanted them arrested and their cloaker taken, we manage to arrest the clown, but they keep breaking out of the brig and trying to get the contraband locker, calling it their "toy box", heh really funny part, they almost manage to get AI to open it by convincing the AI contraband was a toybox and not a contraband locker, as we had only ordered the AI to not open contraband to the clown, not his toybox. After a lot of back and forth with the clown breaking into security and attempting to steal the locker, later they manage to stealthily rogue the AI by being goofy and pretending to be just loitering near upload, actually fooled all of us, and manages to get back their cloaker from contraband. Overall, it was a very fun shift, had a lot of funny and fun interactions with the clown, loved it.

Answer one or more of the following fun questions (because it's important for the HoS to be fun):

Write a poem to convey your thoughts on security/NanoTrasen/space/bees/anything related to SS13.

What's a security gimmick that you've ran or wanted to run?

Hotdog security, every officer wearing a hot dog costume. Quite a plain gimmick, but I think it would look really funny.

Draw a picture!

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will):

I do not believe I have ever been banned before, I have been warned before by admins via admin pm.

Hi, I don't currently play a lot but when I use to play (Especially noticable when I played security, or antagonist) They're the type of person to prioritize fun, but not to the point where they allowed "Rampager mc rampagey pants" To kill half the station. They don't lean too far into the "I HAVE TO BRING JUSTICE" side of security I see a lot of people get into, where they take it very personally if they lose, since norah will just treat it as a game and have fun as they should. They also don't act like a main character which i see a lot of people do, a really really good pick for HOS and i'm actually surprised they aren't one already!

Norah plays a good secoff and it’s obvious to me that she’s a good candidate for HoS! First of all, Norah has always been a reliable, communicative sec player with a ton of experience, more than enough for me to declare her competent. Also, Norah is great at balancing fun and gimmicks with her role as security. I’ve already seen her teach newer players in the department too, which is awesome. Big +1 from me  space owl

+1. Nothing bad to say about you at all. Overall, you're a fun person to see every shift you play as security. You have good security fundamentals (brigging, communication, arrests, etc) and are reliable/dependable. No doubt whatsoever that you would be a good HoS.

+1 norah always prioritizes keeping the rounds momentum going & making sure everyones having fun over just stopping crime. recently had a few rounds with her where i was AI and she was solo sec, we were always communicating and she never law 2'd me into supercopping anyone unless it was very needed. would love to see her as hos, personally.

+1 I've played countless shifts with her as a secoff, and I can say they are one of the most robust and reliable secoffs goon 1 has in their recent times, they have pushed me to my limits as an antag and have kept encouraging me to find new and funs ways to deal with security as a baddie, I must say I enjoy interacting with her and they have brought many times a lot laughs to my game, super communicative as well, tho- one quick note I'd like to add is for them to push their leadership a little bit more than they already do, but overall a great option for the HoS position.

Norah is funny but also knows when it's time to get serious. Knows security really well and is perfectly fine for the role imo +1

Rounds with Norah as security are often fun. She communicates well as a team mate, and when dealing with antags she is willing to have a conversation while playing the role which leads to a lot of funny situations. Cant really say i think she is too harsh or easy as far as punishments go. Its clear to me she keeps peoples fun as a priority and not just winning against the antags. Haven't ever seen her lose her cool, good head on her shoulders. +1
