This suggestion simply involves a little chatbox motification for AI players. Whenever someone says in person, over radio, or over intercom, the phrase "AI" (doesn't have to be case sensitive) or the AI's name, it's highlighted in a different color from the text box background. This will help the AI player see when they're being asked for something more easily.

if you go into your chat settings, you can set string highlights. useful for your name, and things such as AI.

Well, it's worse than I thought. It highlights EVERYTHING with "ai" in it, not just the standalone term. I think this suggestion still stands.

You can throw spaces around it to highlight ai standalone

You can set the highlight to
(?:\W|^)ai(?:\W|$) to only affect ai (so captain is not highlighted)

It supports regex, you can use \bai\b which checks for a blank character either side of ai
