You should be able to plant weeds/some other plants on grass floor.
It would :
- make using grass more than an decoration thing and would probably increase its use
- help weeds have any practical use as you could plant some here and there accross the station as a traitor
- open for more botanist traitor seeds of harmful weeds that wouldn't be worth getting if they relied on the base tray amount, or possibly opening for more weeds at all from hacked dispensers
- open up for more plant effects at all, like, say, an artifact-like plant with a slow healing field, without requiring to give up a tray
Plants planted this way can be damaged by kicking them, to let the crew destroy them without requiring access to a chainsaw, but they can not be straight up uprooted, or maybe if it takes some time.
You would possibly need to put compost down on the grass before being able to plant weeds, making a visual change on the grass tile or not.
Or it can require special floor-grade compost which you can get from, say, hacking garden tool dispensers in very limited quantity, and be made through botany-accessible chemistry using regular compost and some other stuff.
And why not in a corner a broken-down but repairable lawn-placer that you load with grass seeds and that places them down on the floors you're dragging it to. Or not ? You wouldn't want people to spam grass everywhere every few rounds maybe ? Or would it be like that at first but slow down to reasonable use as the novelty runs out ? Could possibly be moved out to the debris if it gets overused ?
If this gives botany too much power to mess with the station (if only visually) reliably, maybe make the whole thing a traitor kit : lawn-placer, a big bag of floor-grade compost, and a few trashbag-like containers of harmful weeds.
TL;DR :
- Put botany-chemistry-made special compost on grass floor
- Plant stuff in compost, like radweeds, lashers, or just strawberries
- Automated grass-planting with a lawn-placer that needs repairs on roundstart
- Whole feature possibly locked behind a botanist traitor kit
- More info in the post
